Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) is a Pan-African non-governmental organisation that advances human rights, promotes public health, challenges entrenched abuse of nature and the environment, and builds community power for inclusive development and participatory governance
Africa is about the most unequal continent on our planet, with the widest income [second only to Latin America], and wealth [second only to Asia-Pacific region] inequalities in the world. Working with dedicated staff, community volunteers, coalitions, and strong networks, we commit to policies and actions that tackle inequality and build a socially just, equitable future across Africa.
An Africa that is free of injustices and inequalities caused by corporations and unfair state structures.
A continent where development is designed and led by Africans—demanding accountability, upholding human rights, promoting social justice, and ensuring harmony with the environment.
To nurture movements of African communities and a new generation of leaders working shoulder to shoulder to demand democratic resource governance, inclusive participation in development, an end to inequalities, and accountability for all corporate and state abuses.
CAPPA believes that empowering African communities with knowledge, organizing skills, and platforms to raise their voices will build strong, united movements capable of challenging and transforming unjust corporate and state practices. This collective power protects rights, dismantles inequalities, holds power accountable, and enables communities to thrive in harmony with the environment. We achieve this by strengthening community power, producing and sharing evidence, confronting abusive actors through bold advocacy, shifting narratives with fearless media work, and building strong alliances. Our vision is an Africa led by its people — where human rights, social justice, and environmental integrity are non-negotiable, and communities live with dignity, free from exploitation.
We are an advocacy and campaigning organisation that believes in the power of collective action to halt and prevent deleterious corporate practices, strengthen inclusive governance, and protect communities from exploitative state and corporate activities.
CAPPA’s strength lies in its people. We are a bold, diverse team of advocates, researchers, organisers, and frontline fighters united by a shared commitment to justice, equity, and accountability across Africa.
