Learn how to advocate for healthy food policies, counter industry influence, and create lasting change in your community.
About The Bootcamp
The Youth Bootcamp for Food Justice 2025 is a transformative space for young changemakers ready to reshape Nigeria’s food systems and policy landscape. Anchored in the food justice campaign of Corporate Accountability and Public Participation Africa (CAPPA) and supported by the Global Health Advocacy Incubator (GHAI), the bootcamp equips emerging leaders with knowledge, skills, and networks to drive healthy food policies and push for nutrition equity.
Aggressive marketing, misleading advertising, and weak regulations continue to undermine public health, with children, young people, and low-income communities disproportionately affected. Youth are relentlessly targeted through flashy campaigns that influence early consumption habits, normalise ultra-processed foods, and establish lifelong preferences for unhealthy diets. This vulnerability is compounded by limited access to accurate nutrition information and healthier food options.
Why We Are Gathering
Young people play a critical role in shaping inclusive and sustainable development outcomes. This bootcamp aims to strengthen youth participation in food governance by building their capacity to understand the intersection of food systems, public health, and policy reform. Participants will learn how to counter industry interference, build communication skills, advocate for regulatory change, and lead campaigns that promote equitable access to nutritious food.
Eligibility
We welcome applications from young people between 18 and 32 years old who are passionate about food justice, health equity, climate change, and community organising. Prior advocacy experience is an advantage but not required. If you are just beginning to explore how food connects to public health, policy, and social justice, this space is also for you. All applicants must be active on at least two major social media platforms.
